MY DREAMHORSE also known as "Max", was bred in Spain, born in Germany and imported to the US in 1999. I was truly blessed to find Romerito as a colt of 11 months and he has been my best friend ever since. Seeing him move with his dam simply took my breath away and I instantly knew that he was everything I had hoped to find: Andalusian mind and short back paired with breathtaking Warmblood movement. And what an incredibly rewarding journey it is..... ! Romerito's parents were purchased by the German V.I.P. soccer player, Bernd Schuster, while being the head coach for the soccer team in Barcelona, Spain. These horses were of great value and quality, meeting the new type of Andalusian Spain is breeding for to compete in open Dressage. These horses were never supposed to leave Spain. Instead of extending his contract Bernd Schuster moved back to Germany and took Romerito's parents and other exceptional PREs with him. Romerito was one of their first foals born in Germany! When I presented him for Revision (it took me 6 years and special petitions to have this opportunity), the Spanish Revision Team told me that under normal circumstances a horse of his caliber would have never left Spain. Romerito was started after his import to America. I lunged him with bridle and saddle for three days, and we went on our first trail ride together. A large group of deer came crashing out of the woods, crossing our path. He planted his feet into the ground and looked at them until they left. And this is only one example of how he has always kept me safe. This breed is just incredibly brave and safe! Yes, his height might be unique, yet he kept growing to become my ideal riding partner. He has taught me everything I know about horses, their behavior, listening to them, improving my communication and feel with them, and to this day he and all of our beautiful horses keep teaching me! Romerito is a proven sire and his foals are being treasured world-wide. What a wonderful extended family Romerito has created, and thank you to everyone who stays in touch. 2011 is Romerito's last season to stand at stud to the public and we are so excited as we are finally going to do what be both enjoy so much: having time to ride together! Thank you, "lieber Max", for being a Dressage Ambassador for your breed and for every minute we are blessed to enjoy together! You are my once-in-a-lifetime DreamHorse! |
